Frequency control products specialist Euroquartz has launched a new range of ultra-miniature surface mount crystals designed for use in a wide range of handheld communications applications. The MJ series crystals are housed in an ultra-miniature 5 x 3,2 mm footprint package with low profile of just 1 mm. This makes the crystals highly suited for use in state-of-the-art handheld and portable communications equipment.
Offered in frequencies from 16 to 90 MHz, the MJ series also deliver superior shock and vibration performance. Frequencies from 12 MHz to 40 MHz are available in AT-Cut fundamental mode with maximum ESR of 50 Ω. From 40 to 90 MHz the crystals are available in AT-Cut, third overtone mode with maximum ESR of 60 Ω.
Frequency tolerance (at 25°C) of ±5, ±10, ±20 and ±30 ppm are available with a choice of temperature stability of ±5 ppm to ±50 ppm over -20 to +70°C and ±3 ppm over -30 to +85°C. Typical shunt capacitance is from 2 to 4 pF (5 pF maximum), load capacitance is customer-specifiable and ranges from 10 pF to 32 pF. Recommended drive level is 10 μW and an ageing of less than ±3 ppm per year can be expected.
