Rittal's PDR power distribution rack is a new solution for the installation of central power supply for IT systems with cascaded and flexibly expandable modules. The connection to the mains is made in a single rack or enclosure. The user then immediately has 250 A available for further connections, whereby all distribution modules are shock-hazard-protected and can be added to the system without interrupting operation.
The PDR rack, which has a space-saving design, incorporates protected busbar systems for power distribution. The cover plate prevents any form of contact with the live parts. On the front of the cover plate, each PDR unit offers the user four special plug connectors and a 19" mounting level. One to four PDM power distribution modules are fitted and activated, depending on the current requirements. It is thus possible to distribute up to 40 kW per PDM, or, up to 10 kW to each of four server racks.
Commissioning is simple, as the connection to the incoming mains is already achieved by actuating the main switch on the PDM unit. One special feature is a provision for reliable security. The main switch serves not only to connect the power, but at the same time to lock the PDM module in the rack. This prevents inadvertent removal of the module during operation.
Alongside the main switch it is possible to incorporate circuit-breakers as fusing for all three individual phases of each output. Each PDM module offers four outputs of 10 kW each to power consumers in different racks. Power distribution there is by way of three-phase 'socket modules' mounted on the vertical sections (Power System Modules).
