Grintek Telecom helps Telkom expand wireless broadband network
17 November 2004
News
Grintek Telecom has announced it has been given a further order from Telkom for Alvarion multigain wireless (MGW) equipment to complete a country-wide, wireless network infrastructure project initiated in 2003. The equipment will be used to deploy 11 network expansion and upgrade projects. Grintek Telecom, which will be supplying state-of-the art equipment, is responsible for supply, installation and local support.
Multigain wireless (MGW) uses radio links instead of copper lines to quickly deploy quality voice, high-speed voice band data (VBD) and ISDN-BRI services to residential or SOHO customers. "The MGW is well suited for both new operators entering the market or incumbents where copper infrastructure is already saturated or is difficult to install, for instance in new housing areas, historical sites or temporary installations," said Srini Moodley, business development at Grintek Telecom.
