Linear position sensors

17 November 2004 Passive Components

The NPL series linear position sensors provides a low cost, highly reliable solution for all position-sensing applications, claims Piher, the manufacturer. Typical applications are for automotive seat position memory, central locking, headlamp position and rear-view mirror position sensors.

Key features are: high reliability; simple construction (only three component parts); over-moulding manufacturing technique; plastic or metal clip versions available; various fixing methods, ie, clip type, inward/outward actuating, locating pins, etc.

The range of values (linear taper) are 1 kΩ to 100 kΩ (relative linearity ±2%). Tolerance is ±30% and max voltage 50 to 100 V d.c. with power rating of 0,25 to 0,5 W at 70°C. Operating temperature is -40 to +105°C and mechanical life, 50k cycles.
