OKW has released a new desktop and wall-mounted case system for universal applications. The case is available in two sizes and the standard colour is off-white. The case is designed in four parts: the bottom part can be fixed directly to the wall, the top part is screwed in place from the front and then the case is closed using two side covers. If required, the snap-on covers can be locked to prevent unauthorised access.
To secure the PCBs, screws are fitted in the bottom and top parts. The top part has a recessed area for membrane keyboards or other operating elements. At the side of the bottom part there are holders for optional battery springs as contacts for 2 x 1,5 V AA batteries or a 9 V flat battery can be used. The size of the contained PCB can be: 120 x 180 mm for the S type, and 180 x 180 mm for the M type.
The electronics area can be partitioned off on the left and on the right through the optional use of slot-in panels. This permits the complete pre-assembly of the electronics unit; the technician on site only has to mount the unit on the wall and connect up the relevant leads. The actual case does not have to be opened to do this, only the snap-on covers. Connection can be effected from the left and/or from the right-hand side.
The case is manufactured from ABS (UL 94 HB). The IP40 protective class is intended for interior use. Slot-in panels, lids for covering the dialog area, battery clips, non-slip feet as well as screws for securing the PCBs are available as accessories.
