Interconnect for broadband applications

17 November 2004 Interconnection

Amphenol, one of the largest manufacturers of interconnect products, offers a range of products geared towards the broadband communications market.

The company offers T10 and TX10 Semiflex Cable which it says has a low DC loop resistance that results in lower installation cost and annual powering costs. These cables are highly suited for urban and coastal environments, feeder or underground applications where they can be exposed to extensive mechanical abuse and rodent attack. The 1 GHz bandwidth of the cables allow rebuilds, upgrades, or new plant since the system will handle future demand for more channels, higher definition television and other emerging technologies.

Amphenol TFC Headend Drop Cable is a product recommended for the installation in headends where cable may be subjected to tight bends and mechanical abuse.

T10 Drop Cable is designed to reduce system operating costs, and can be used in a variety of applications to facilitate smooth system operation. T10 is available in Single, Messengered, Siamese, Siamese Messengered, Trishield and Quadshield versions. It is well-suited for a wide range of general purpose, indoor and outdoor applications, pole-to-house, pole-to-pole, apartments and dual plant systems.

Amphenol also manufactures Special Applications Cable for various applications and system requirements. These incorporate the company's standard drop cable with one or more copper twisted pairs. They are suited for use by telephony and cable companies worldwide in TVRO applications, at frequencies from 950 MHz to 1450 MHz.
