Power management IC for Xilinx FPGAs

Texas Instruments has released a highly efficient, power management IC for Xilinx's Spartan-II/IIE/3 series of FPGAs. The company says the triple-channel device significantly reduces the number of external components required to power a complete FPGA system. The TP75003 integrates two 3 A DC-DC buck controllers with up to 95% efficiency to power the Spartan core and I/O rails, and one 300 mA low dropout regulator that is stable with a low-cost ceramic output capacitor for powering the Spartan-3's Vccaux rail or other low-power system voltage. The device includes several other unique features like programmable soft-start for in-rush current control and independent enables for sequencing and it meets all Xilinx start-up profile requirements, including monotonic ramp and minimum ramp times. The device can also support other processors.
