u-blox, represented in SA by RF Design, announced the delivery of its millionth GPS receiver to Socket Communications, for Socket's new wireless GPS Nav Kit. The millionth GPS module, a TIM-LA, was presented personally by Nikolaos Papadopoulos, president of u-blox America, to Kevin Mills, president and CEO of Socket Communications in a commemorative celebration at Socket's headquarters in California.
In 2001, just four years after the successful launch of the world's smallest commercial GPS receiver, u-blox introduced the successor TIM family, a one square inch form factor suited for fully automated pick and place production.
