Tester for W-CDMA/UMTS and GSM mobile phones

26 January 2005 Test & Measurement Security Services & Risk Management

Yokogawa's VC200 W-CDMA (3G) mobile phone tester has been specifically developed for use in mobile phone service and repair centres, and is claimed to be the world's first 'go/no-go' tester for UMTS.

With an 'autotest' mode, any service technician or unskilled operator can use. Pushing a 'one touch' start button automatically tests the essential functions and performance of the mobile phone in less than one minute, and then displays 'pass' or 'fail'.

Yokogawa claims its VC200 is the only tester that satisfies the test requirements of 3GPP, the standards body for UMTS.

The VC200 is a compact benchtop unit with a large built-in LCD display. Transmission frequency range is 2100 to 2170 MHz and receiver frequency range is 1920 to 1980 MHz, both adjustable in 200 kHz steps. RF output level is -110 to

-10 dBm (0,1 dB steps) and output accuracy is ±1,5 dB from +5 to +35°C. Maximum input level is +35 dBm, and sensitivity is better than -70 dBm.
