Asian success for auto-vision-placer

26 January 2005 Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services

Thanks to its ingenious auto-vision-placer (AVP), German rework and dispensing specialist Martin, says it has managed to significantly increase the customer base for its rework units worldwide; Russia and the wider Asiatic area especially have contributed disproportionately to the considerable increase in business.

This provided a further reason to increase customer support internationally, too, says Martin. The European market has also developed well for Martin, although growth rates there lag behind those for Asia.

According to Martin, when first developed in 1999, some experts belittled the auto-vision-placer, integrated in the Rework-Set MARTIN Auto-Vision-Expert-09. Since then the important advantages of the now patented process that provides high precision from moderate mechanical effort has been clearly recognised. At the same time the system excels in its ease of use. From large BGA sockets to minute μSMDs all rework tasks can be tackled by the AVP, it says. The change-over to lead-free is a matter of just one click and has already been integrated in the units since 2004.

Success in Asia is not a coincidence, it claims. The company has been very active in that market for effective and economically attractive rework over the past few years. The result is a stable local partnership coupled with reliable service. Practical solutions for current and lead-free challenges are very important to Martin. Increases in staffing levels provide improved support, strengthened sales activities in world markets as well as enhanced product development.
