IEC power entry module with mains filter

8 November 2000 Switches, Relays & Keypads

The KMF extends the IEC inlet KM Series from Schurter which conforms to IEC/EN 60950 and is VDE, UL and CSA approved. The power inlets are extremely compact and are available in three configurations: with or without EMC shield (KM) and the new type KMF which has both EMC shield and mains filter.

Rated current for the series is from 1 to 10 A at 250 V a.c. and the fuseholder is either single or double pole for 5 x 20 mm fuse links; the fuse can be replaced from the front of the inlet. A two-pole mains switch is also provided.

The series is designed to fulfil a number of functions. Versions are available for use where neither mains filtering nor EMC shielding are required. Similarly, an inlet for applications where EMC shielding against radiated interference is required, but where individually adapted interference suppression for conducted interference (separate filter on a printed circuit board) is preferred. The new KMF version is equipped with both an EMC shield and mains filter and can be supplied for both standard and medical applications.

The EMC shielding is achieved by the use of stainless-steel shield. The shield has flexible spring segments that provide efficient contact with the panel, thus ensuring good earthing potential.
