Lem's flat, PCB-mounted current transducers operate from a single +5 V supply, measure 22 x 20 x 8,7 mm and are designed for nominal current measurements of 40 and 70 A r.m.s. (HFIS 40-P and HFIS 70-P resp.). The transducers will accept two types of primary conductor: either a round cable of 4,6 mm diameter or a busbar measuring 7,2 x 2,6 mm. Both models have the same pinout and are intended for a wide variety of low-voltage applications.
Offset (at no primary current) and gain are ratiometric. The initial offset is equal to Vcc/2 and the gain is defined as Vcc/5 x 0,64 V for 40 A (for the HFIS 40-P) and Vcc/5 x 0,7 V for 70 A (for the HFIS 70-P). Both directly depend on power supply variations.
The rated single insulation voltage is 100 V r.m.s. when fully using the round aperture and 150 V r.m.s. when fully using the rectangular aperture. This insulation can be improved by using an isolated cable or busbar.
The use of a unique Lem ASIC provides better offset and gain drifts, linearity and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C, compared to traditional discrete technology. The transducers are CE marked and conform to the EN 50178 standard. They have a five-year warranty.
