Keyboard system with fully illuminated keys

It is often difficult to operate keyboards in dark rooms or in environments with diffuse light conditions. Rafi thus developed the new night-design keyboard system 'RS 76 MX' with fully-illuminated keycaps for these fields of application and especially for operating panels in medical technology:

The system is based on the tried and tested Rafi RS 76M PCB-mounted keyswitches that were optimised for illumination with regard to both design and material. The snap-on keycaps are designed with light-guiding translucent actuating areas, ensuring a uniform distribution of light over the full keycap surface. The light is produced by SMD LEDs soldered to the back of the PCB and lighting through suitable bores in the PCB and openings in the key housing.

Two LEDs per keycap are recommended for the 1-module to 1 3/4-module keycaps, six LEDs for the 5-module spacebar. The key symbols are laser-printed and therefore abrasion-proof. This versatile technique makes it possible to provide the keyboards with legends after completing assembly.
