Ampro has announced that Intel's just-released 1,0 GHz Celeron M 373 processor, has an L2 cache size of 512 KB. The datasheets on the Ampro web site and some sales literature, previously incorrectly indicated 1 MB of L2 cache for this processor. Even though this has a Dothan (90 nm) core, it has the same cache size as the 600 MHz Celeron M based on the Banias (130 nm) core.
Intel also recently announced Product Change Notifications (schedules for last time buy and end-of-life) for two processors that sell into both desktop/notebook PC and embedded markets. Ampro is warning customers not to get confused by this. Intel has made it very clear that these EOL announcements are only for desktop/notebook OEM shipments, due to OEMs moving to higher speed CPUs. The two processors that are not going EOL for embedded are: 1,4 GHz LV Pentium M 738, and 933 MHz LV Pentium III. These processors are still on the embedded roadmap and Intel's 5-year commitment still applies for embedded shipments.
