AlanDick South Africa supports GSM footprint expansion in Congo
20 April 2005
News
As part of its drive to spread mobile telephony throughout Africa, a leading mobile telecommunications network operator is extending its footprint in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon, and has awarded the contract for 160 turnkey BTS (base transceiver station) installations to AlanDick Africa.
AlanDick Africa will oversee the civil works as well as the installation and commissioning of all towers, containers, the RF installation and all other associated equipment during the project, expected to be completed in December 2005.
AlanDick is operating from its offices in the DRC employing skilled and semi-skilled Congolese and Gabonese during the operation and relying on the South African office only for project support. It is doing this in order to foster skills development in the Congo region and thus act in a socially responsible manner.
AlanDick Africa is a leader in the provision of communication network infrastructure for operators and OEMs in four key international markets - wireless, fixed line, broadcast and radar/surveillance.
