Line of budget optoelectronic minisensors

18 May 2005 Switches, Relays & Keypads

With its BOS 5K model, Balluff has introduced a family of miniature universal opto-electronic sensors that impress with their price/performance ratio. The sensors in this series feature compact design, with dimensions of just 31 x 19 x 10 mm, well-suited for where space is at a premium.

With a moulded housing and a simplified feature set, the cost-effective BOS 5K family is available in diffuse, retro-reflective or through-beam technology, as connector or cable type, with PNP or NPN output, and 'light-on' or 'dark-on' switching. A unique diffuse model is the so-called 'Small Beam', with a narrow light beam for distinguishing very small objects. All BOS 5K sensors feature a potentiometer for set-up and adjustment.

Applications can be found virtually anywhere: whether in assembly or handling, robotics and automation, in specialty machine design or plastic injection moulding machinery. Balluff also offers a wide range of accessories such as slit apertures, mounting brackets, reflectors, reflector holders, and other hardware needed to enable optimal mounting of the sensor.
