Central Semiconductor has released a new series of triacs with an extended current range. The industry standard current for SOT-223 packaged triacs is 1,0 A. Central Semiconductor now manufactures 2,0 A (CQ223-2M and CQ223-2N) and 4,0 A (CQ223-4M and CQ223-4N) devices in the SOT-223 package. The M suffix signifies a peak repetitive off-state voltage of 600 V, while the N suffix signifies 800 V. These devices are rated at a gate trigger current (IGT) of 5,0 mA maximum in quadrants I, II, III and 9,0 mA maximum in quadrant IV. The SOT-223 package, with a profile of 1,8 mm, is ideal for small electronic products requiring the functionality of a triac.
