New version of electromagnetic analysis software released

15 June 2005 Design Automation

Poynting Software has released SuperNEC V 2.9. This release of SuperNEC includes an upgrade to the input and output interface. A matching network generator has also been included as a beta version with this release.

The SuperNEC Input Interface has been upgraded to include a number of tools and new fractal assemblies, contributed by Abdelhafid Tchoketch. These include Koch antennas, a Sierpinsky triangle, a trees antenna and loop structures. The SIG interface has been upgraded to a release status and now includes an animated help feature to guide the user through the basic functionality of the tool.

A new matching network generator has been released as a beta version. This tool will aid users to create networks to match their antenna's impedance to their system. Other new features in SuperNEC 2.9 include: 3 dB circle for 2D plots, a frequency slider for 2D plots, real and imaginary impedance plotted on one graph to name but a few.

The upgrade to SuperNEC 2.9 is free for users who have a SuperNEC subscription. See www.supernec.com.

Products include:

SuperNEC Lite: Ideal for students and radio amateurs. Can solve small EM problems of not more than 300 segments and three GTD objects. eg, basic antenna types like Yagi, LPDA etc. Includes a CD with online documentation only and no free support.

SuperNEC: Complete package with no limitations (except hardware memory). Generally required when large gridded structures are modelled eg, aircraft up to VHF.

SuperNEC Parallel: Licence for unlimited network software. Used where electrically large and complex structures are analysed at a high frequency. eg, Boeing at 500 MHz.

Study Guide for Electromagnetics and Antennas: This SuperNEC Teaching Aid has been designed and written by EM lecturers in conjunction with students. Chapters include Transmission Lines, Matching, Waves, Basic Antennas, Array Theory and Complex Antennas.
