EFD is a leading manufacturer of precision dispensing systems for all production fluids and pastes. Equipment ranges from hand-operated dispense guns to timed-pulse bench-top dispensers to low-maintenance precision dispense valve systems and XY tables for automated assembly lines.
The new Ultra TT Automation series is a breakthrough in XYZ dispensing technology, bringing a new level of accuracy and convenience to automated table top assembly processes, says the company. The system allows benchtop bonding, gasketing and filling operations to be programmed with a Palm handheld device. In addition, intuitive graphic user-interface software provides positioning and dispensing parameter control, making set-up faster than standard XYZ systems that use teaching pendants with menu-driven software.
The system offers accurate programming, combined with closed-loop servo controls and drive motors for precise positioning of the dispensing tip. This results in higher productivity, greater process consistency and less scrap and rework says EFD.

Understanding solder dross: causes and control strategies
Truth Electronic Manufacturing
Editor's Choice Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
Dross formation is an inevitable consequence of wave soldering. It occurs when molten solder comes into contact with oxygen, forming metal oxides that float on the surface of the solder bath. Over time, this oxidation byproduct accumulates and must be removed to maintain solder quality and process consistency.
