Tyco Electronics is offering permanent magnet DC motors that provide high efficiency and output power, and low levels of acoustic noise. These permanent magnet DC motors are supplied for a wide range of markets, including the mobility (motorised wheelchairs and stairlifts), leisure (golf carts) and marine sectors.
Available in low to medium volumes, the company provides DC motors in the C70 and C90 frame sizes (featuring diameters of 73 mm and 90 mm, respectively), in a range of different speed grades up to 10 000 rpm.
In the C70 frame size, motors are available with peak output power levels ranging up to 700 W and continuous outputs up to 200 W. Motors in the C90 frame size feature peak-output and continuous power output values ranging up to 1600 W and 300 W, respectively. Efficiencies up to 80% are supported by these DC motor designs which typically run from a 12 V or 24 V power rail (although other voltages are available on request for up to 48 V).
A variety of different gearwheel materials is available, to suit the application. The end-shield spigot and bores are precision-machined while the motors are designed to support simple and quick brush replacement.
