Connect signals using bidirectional radio

10 August 2005 Interconnection

The bidirectional radio system from Phoenix Contact makes it possible to transmit two digital and one analog 4-20 mA signals in both directions without wires. Users can now choose the RAD-ISM-2400-SET-BD-BUS-ANT bidirectional system for the secure transmission of digital and analog signals, in addition to the company's unidirectional radio system.

The basic system consists of two transceivers (sender/receiver units), including antennas. The 2,4 GHz ISM band can be operated without a licence. FHSS technology provides robust, secure signal transmission in both systems. This provides a simple transmission route for industrial application areas. Sensors can be connected, supplied with power and activated.

Analog and digital expansion modules are another highlight of the bidirectional system. Simple side-by-side connection to the transceiver allows users to match the radio station to the required number of signals. A total of 33 analog or 66 digital signals can be transmitted with a single radio system. In addition to point-to-point and point-to-multiple-point applications, these devices can also be used to multiply and distribute signals. And the transceivers can also be used as repeaters in order to cover longer distances.

Comprehensive accessories ranging from surge voltage protection to an array antenna provide added security and allow for transmission routes of up to 3000 m.
