Illuminated surface mount switches

Leading edge technology is apparent in the construction of a new switch from MEC called the 'illumec 4F.' It has now become possible to also have an illumination function integrated into surface mount switches.

The illumec switch is a new generation of the company's well-known multimec switches. These switches are sealed to IP-67 standards, have a minimum mechanical life of 10 million actuations, a ruggedised construction that accepts a 100 N force applied to the actuator.

A large range of keycaps is available which include: round, square, rectangular, teardrop or arrow formed; and more than 12 different keycaps fully-illuminated or illuminated by means of lenses in solid colour caps. The innovative switch can be fitted with blue, white, green, yellow and red LEDs as well as bi-colour versions.

The RoHS compatible illumec is available in either through-hole or surface-mount configurations.
