Continuous wave programmable AC power sources

10 August 2005 Power Electronics / Power Management

Elgar's Continuous-Wave (CW) Series power sources deliver from 800 to 1250 VA and 2500 VA. The low profile design of the CW Series makes them suitable for benchtop use. The switchmode, power-factor-corrected design efficiently delivers clean AC power.

Meeting CE requirements, these single-phase sources offer full rated current for any output voltage to 270 V a.c. at a frequency range from 45 to 500 Hz. The power sources have a transformer-coupled output with a 500 V r.m.s. isolation rating between either output terminal to the chassis. The CW Series is suitable for R&D, production, including margin testing or QA verification for industrial and commercial 47 to 63 Hz applications, or avionics, marine and military applications that require 400 Hz.

The front panel has two bright four digit, seven segment LED displays. Voltage, current and frequency settings are quickly adjusted from the front panel knobs, and the power sources can also be programmed remotely from the rear panel analog port. The output is protected against overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature conditions. They can easily be paralleled in the field with an additional parallel cable or configured for three-phase operation.
