Robotic PCB tester

A robotic impedance test system is available from Polar Instruments for testing coupons and PCBs. The RITS500 uses time domain reflectometer impedance measurement technology. It can trace 28 and 50 W reference airlines to NPL and NIST standards. Regular self-calibration verifies the accuracy of the entire sytem, including the test probe, every few minutes during testing. Control is by Windows software. Once the system has learned the XY location of the test points on the coupon, the robotic flying probe automatically contacts each test point in turn. According to Polar, average test time of each point is less than 1,5 s and step resolution is 0,00127 cm.
