Agilent Technologies claims its new family of RF vector network analysers combines the industry's fastest measurement speed, lowest noise, greatest dynamic range and most comprehensive automation and connectivity. The Agilent PNA series is an entirely new family of instruments designed to exploit state-of-the-art technologies and delivers the highest level of measurement performance ever manufactured by Agilent or its predecessor, Hewlett-Packard, a distinction held previously by the Agilent 8753 family, introduced in 1986.
The PNA series also incorporates the Windows 2000 Professional operating system which links the measurement environment with the PC environment for maximum automation and integration with other applications and tools for automated test.
The new instruments combine exceptionally fast sweep speeds - between six and 35 times faster than the Agilent 8753ES - wider dynamic range, low trace noise, four measurement receivers with direct access and 9 GHz frequency coverage. The Windows operating system provides the full power of network connectivity and allows designers to use a variety of tools for automated test, such as COM/DCOM and programming languages, as well as Microsoft applications for the post-processing of measurement data. The familiar Windows interface, electronic calibration, online and context-sensitive help and robust built-in tutorials and manuals make the instruments simple to understand and use.
Vector network analysers are some of the most important instruments in the RF industry and are employed on production lines, in calibration laboratories and in research laboratories. They are used to evaluate the fundamental characteristics of RF components and subsystems. Agilent designed the PNA series with advanced capabilities to address today's increasing demand for performance and ease-of-use while establishing a flexible platform for future test requirements, from component concept through production.
