Branell has released a range of battery chargers for continuous connection to lead acid batteries. Ideal for back-up applications, under normal mains conditions the unit charges the battery and can power equipment connected to the battery. As per battery maker specifications, the battery charger implements a constant current bulk charge cycle, transferring to constant voltage trickle charge once the battery nears the end of the charge cycle.
The battery chargers incorporate lightning protection coordinated to the charger for immunity and switchmode technology ensures the battery is kept charged throughout widely fluctuating mains conditions. To ensure complete protection, the units are short-circuit-protected and include overtemperature protection.
The battery charger is suitable for industrial use, security applications and other applications where lead acid batteries are continuously connected. Technically advanced, these battery chargers employ switchmode technology and comply to CISPR EMI emissions requirements and IEC safety requirements.
Two models are available, a cost-effective unit in a plastic enclosure for low power levels and a higher power unit in a shielded aluminium enclosure.
