Stacked modular jacks with LEDs

22 November 2000 Opto-Electronics

AMP offers stacked modular jacks with LED indication. LEDs are normally used on front panels to provide port activity information, taking up valuable front panel space. The integration of the LEDs into the modular jack allows the equipment manufacturer to provide more ports on the font panel of the equipment. The stacked modular jacks are fully shielded to provide EMI protection and they meet requirements of TIA/EIA 568A.

The stacked modular jacks with LEDs are commonly used by manufacturers of networking equipment for use in hubs, routers and switches. The jacks are used as the main I/O for links to the desktop and servers. Up to two LEDs are available per port in various colours and combinations depending on the application. The modular jack cavities conform to FCC rules and regulations, Part 68, subpart F.
