FM broadcast radio tuner is exceptionally small

16 November 2005 Electronics Technology

Silicon Laboratories' Si4700/01 chip integrates the entire tuner function for stereo FM broadcast radio reception, from antenna interface to audio output. This FM radio tuner IC family is claimed to be the industry's first to leverage digital integration and 100% CMOS process technology. It requires only one external supply bypass capacitor and less than 20 mm² of board space. An integrated regulator allows direct connection to a 2,7 to 5,5 V source.
