Step down regulators for portable applications

25 January 2006 Power Electronics / Power Management

AnalogicTech's AAT2506 and AAT2511 step-down voltage regulators offer high current capability, rapid turn-on time, and high level of integration that the company says will help designers meet rising performance requirements while reducing footprint and component count. The AAT2506 combines a 600 mA step-down converter with a 300 mA low-dropout linear regulator (LDO), while the AAT2511 integrates two 600 mA step-down converters. The AAT2506 delivers 600 mA (while maintaining 97% efficiency) and also features a low 25 μA no load quiescent current. The two step-down converters in the AAT2511 also maximise efficiency at light load with a low 25 μA quiescent current on each channel. Output voltage ranges from 0,6 V to the maximum applied input voltage. A 1 MHz switching frequency minimises the size of external components and reduces switching losses.
