ISE WebPACK 8.1i, the latest version of Xilinx' free downloadable development system, is now available. This version now includes all the features of ISE Foundation with full support for embedded, DSP and realtime debug design flows. Also featured in the 8.1i release is support for all members of the Spartan-3E FPGA family, and additional support for Virtex-4 FPGA devices.
WebPACK 8.1i includes ISE Simulator for both PC and Linux platforms, and an enhanced user interface for Linux and Windows. With the addition of CoreGenerator, FPGA Editor and support for multiple simulators, it now offers the most-complete zero cost design environment to its rapidly growing base of over 200 000 designers, according to Xilinx.
The CORE Generator System offers an optimised, predefined set of building blocks for common functions, which simplifies design steps, enabling faster design completion. The FPGA Editor allows designers to view and change post-implementation routing and placement. ISE Simulator Lite is a complete VHDL/Verilog simulator.
