Fully-featured voltage supervisors are tiny

8 February 2006 Power Electronics / Power Management

Microchip Technology has released 10 new voltage supervisors: the MCP1316, MCP1316M, MCP1317, MCP1318, MCP1318M, MCP1319, MCP1319M, MCP1320, MCP1321 and MCP1322. The new devices offer a watchdog timer, manual reset, multiple combinations of push-pull or open-drain reset outputs, and factory trip-points from 2,0 V to 4,7 V in 100 mV increments, all in a tiny, 5-pin SOT-23 package (2,95 x 2,8 mm). The devices operate over -40 to 125°C - ideal for automotive and industrial applications. These voltage supervisors monitor voltage rails in digital systems. They operate at input voltages as low as 1,0 V and up to 5,5 V, consume very little power (5 μA typical), and offer a wide range of trip points between 2,0 V and 4,7 V. Microchip also has the VSUPEV2 Voltage Supervisor SOT-23-5/6 evaluation board available.
