Temperature controller unit complies with Modbus and BACnet

6 April 2006 News

The ADAM-4022T temperature PID controller from Advantech supports both BACnet and Modbus protocols. This protocol flexibility, combined with the built-in thermistor input, makes the ADAM-4022T ideal for advanced building automation solutions.

Although Modbus is the most widely-used network protocol in the industrial manufacturing environment, BACnet is another popular protocol for building automation. The result is that these two standards are often combined in building automation applications. Depending on the application requirements, users can either select the Modbus or BACnet. Since this protocol compatibility issue does not affect the ADAM-4022T, users will be able to focus more on critical tasks.

The ADAM-4022T is also a cost-effective solution as the built-in 10K thermistor input eliminates the need for a separate transmitter. To reduce the number of I/O modules, the two control loops can be changed through the software to function as PID controllers or simple I/O interfaces. The bundled software can also be used to set the PID parameters.

The compact design of the ADAM family saves space, and has flexible mounting options such as wall, panel, piggyback, cabinets and DIN rails. The PID output values can be interlocked with onboard emergency digital inputs to automatically switch to a pre-set safety value in the case of an emergency.
