8-channel 8/10/12-bit ADCs

3 May 2006 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

The ADC08/10/128Sxx2 are nine new low-power, CMOS ADC integrated circuits from National Semiconductor with guaranteed performance over three speed ranges.

These converters are pin- and function-compatible to each other and are based on successive approximation register architecture with an internal track-and-hold circuit. They can be configured to accept up to eight input signals at inputs IN0 through IN7. The output serial data is straight binary and is compatible with several standards, such as SPI, QSPI, Microwire, and many common DSP serial interfaces.

These converters can be operated with independent analog and digital supplies. The analog supply (VA) can range from +2,7 to +5,25 V, and the digital supply (VD) from +2,7 to VA.

National's Signal Path Designer tool offers an intuitive, step-by-step guide to balance the resolution, speed and power consumption of a performance-matched ADC with the ideal filters, passive components and amplifier to create an ADC/amplifier circuit with optimal performance. The tool also provides filter simulations for both ideal and device models for comparison purposes. To see the tool create an optimised 12-bit, 1 MSPS signal path, see http://webench.national.com/signalpathdemo.

The key features of these devices include: eight input channels; independent analog and digital supplies; SPI/QSPI/Microwire/DSP compatible; clock frequency: 0,8-3,2 MHz; TSSOP-16 package; -40-105°C range.
