XP Power has announced a compact 150 W AC/DC external power supply for portable equipment that claims best-in-class performance at 0,322 W/cm³ power density and 88% minimum efficiency.
Dubbed the AML150, the power supply is smaller than many lower power units of this type yet needs no internal or external fan to deliver full power at up to 40°C ambient and 60% power at 70°C. Specifying this 150 W unit will often provide the power headroom for designers to make future upgrades to their products without having to change the power supply, says the manufacturer.
These unit's cool running contributes to its more than 100 000 hours (MIL-HDBK-217F) reliability rating. The unit is suited to applications ranging from automation and industrial control to specialist portable equipment and communication systems.
The power supply has a universal AC input (90-264 V a.c.) with active PFC to meet EN61000-3-2, -3 and a single output of 12, 15, 19, 20 or 24 V d.c. It measures 171 x 72 x 40 mm and is supplied with an 1800 mm power cord terminated with a 4-pin DIN plug. Non-standard output voltages and connectors are available. The unit is fitted with an internal 4 A fuse and offers over-temperature, over-voltage and over-load protection as standard features.
It meets EN55022 Class B standards for radiated and conducted emissions and has the appropriate EN, UL and CSA safety approvals.
