Atmel's ARM-based Flash microcontroller wins 2006 ultimate product award

17 May 2006 News

Atmel has announced that its AT91SAM7X ARM-based Flash microcontroller has won the 2006 EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Award in the Processor/Memory category. The ACE accolades are awarded to the most significant products introduced in the last 12 months in each of the seven categories.

Alfredo Vadillo, Atmel's director for ARM-based microcontrollers, commented on the significance of this prestigious award, "We are very happy with this award. When we decided to launch the SAM7 32-bit Flash MCU family, our objective was to provide innovative, high performance, high functionality and low cost products to the emerging 32-bit Flash MCU market. This prize recognises that we have achieved our goal."

The award-winning AT91SAM7X is designed for extensively networked, realtime embedded systems. It features a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, CAN, full-speed USB 2.0, with a variant that embeds a high-speed AES/3DES encryption engine. Its 25 ns Flash memory supports deterministic processing as required for realtime control systems.
