Mobile TV solution demonstrated at 3GSM

17 May 2006 News

The Technology Partnership (TTP), an independent product and technology development company, has collaborated with Neomagic to develop a mobile TV solution that allows handset manufacturers and OEMs to quickly bring low cost feature phones to market for receiving mobile TV broadcasts. The mobile TV solution will allow handset manufacturers and OEMs to quickly bring low cost feature phones to market for receiving mobile TV broadcasts, according to the group.

The demonstrator, shown at the 3GSM World Congress, is based on TTP's DAB-IP mobile digital TV software and Neomagic's flagship MiMagic 6+ applications processor. Live broadcasts were received from BT Movio's mobile TV service.

Commenting on its significance, Martin Orrell, general manager of DAB-IP at TTP said: "This is more than just a demonstrator - we have shown that a system is now available that is capable of supporting all the major broadcast standards including DAB-IP/DMB and DVB-H, and can help reduce time to market for a handset by as much as 50%."

TTP's (www.ttp.com) DAB-IP technology includes both TV and radio reception and supports the main digital broadcast standards for delivering TV to mobile devices.
