Omron has announced a new power relay designed specifically to control high inrush currents to fluorescent or incandescent lamps in emergency lighting systems and appliance control applications. For example, in home appliances such as refrigerators, building control devices such as lighting circuits, and HVAC equipment such as heating and ventilation control systems.
Omron's G5RL-1A-E HR relay is a low profile relay (29,0 x 12,7 x 15,7 mm) capable of handling inrush currents up to 100 A at 240 V a.c. The relay is TV5-rated by UL and is approved to 100 A at 240 V a.c. for 50 000 operations by VDE. It has a rated coil voltage of 5, 12, 14 and 48 V d.c. allowing 50 000 operations with a resistive load of 16 A at 250 V a.c./24 V d.c.
The relay has an SPST-NO contact configuration and a Flux protective construction. The contact base material is gold alloy for longer life expectancy and high contact reliability. The G5RL-HR relay conforms to VDE (EN 61810-1/EN 60255-23) and UL 508/CSA C22.2 standards.
