Adequate Energy, a Cape Town-based electronics power development company, has released a compact 15 A DC-DC converter that has what it claims, one of the widest input voltage ranges and an efficiency of 96%. Combined with its small size, dust-proof packaging, low EMI and extremely stable output voltage, it is well-suited for industrial, marine and renewable energy applications.
This DC-DC converter has an ultra-wide input voltage range of 16-84 V and delivers up to 15 A continuous current output at 12, 13,6 or 15 V. The converter has a high efficiency of over 96% from 2 A to 12 A load at 24 Vin and over 95% from 2 A to 10 A at 48 Vin. This high efficiency enables it to be one of the smallest and lightest converters in industry, weighing less than 240 g and with a footprint of only 82 x 64 mm.
The converter comes with fail-safe circuitry to prevent the high input voltage from reaching the output in case of semiconductor failure. It has superior line and load regulation of ±0,1% and has a fast 50 μs load transient response resulting in an extremely stable output voltage.
Its all-ceramic capacitor construction and cool running semiconductors give it a calculated MTBF of over 1 million hours. The converter comes in six sided aluminium housing with low EMI.
