Ultra low profile switch offers clear tactile feedback

Tyco Electronics has added a new ultra low profile surface mount tactile switch to its Alcoswitch range of switches. The FSM 0,5 mm slim-line tactile switch benefits from very small dimensions of 4,8 x 4,8 x 0,55 mm (L x W x H) and very short travel of the actuator, making it comfortable to operate.
With its very slim design and clear tactile feedback, the switch meets key requirements for miniature-sized applications in electronic devices such as mobile phones, radios, pagers, remote control units, computer mice and MP3 players, to name a few.
An actuation force of only 1,6 N, a minimum life expectancy of 500 000 cycles and an operating temperature range from -20 to 70°C are further features of the device.
