News
ON Semiconductor and Nantero are jointly developing innovative semiconductor process technology, continuing ongoing work to effectively integrate carbon nanotubes in CMOS fabrication. The development project is taking place at ON Semiconductor's manufacturing campus in Oregon, USA.
Nantero is a nanotechnology company using carbon nanotubes for the development of next-generation semiconductor devices. Nantero is developing NRAM - a high-density nonvolatile random access storage device. The potential applications for this nonvolatile storage device are extensive and include the ability to enable instant-on computers and to replace the memory in devices ie, portable products such as cellphones, MP3 players, PDAs, as well as applications in the networking arena. NRAM can be manufactured for both standalone and embedded memory applications.
"We see tremendous potential in this joint project," said Greg Schmergel, Nantero CEO. "Nantero has successfully worked with the engineering team in Gresham for years and we look forward to working with ON Semiconductor to make the world's first production semiconductor devices using carbon nanotubes."
