Thermal printer targets mini-kiosk markets

Fujitsu Components recently released a high-speed, 58 mm thermal printer sub-assembly for a variety of mini-kiosk, self-service and receipt-generating applications. Designed for simplicity, the printer's easy loading mechanism (ELM) simplifies paper roll replacement by fully releasing the platen and providing a wide paper path for tool-free, drop-in loading capability.

The FTP-627USL401 series thermal printer features 100 mm/s print speed and 8 dots/mm resolution, delivering quiet, fast, high-quality output. Its supports character and general graphics capabilities, including alphanumeric, kana, international characters and 2D barcodes, on 58 mm wide paper. It also has a drawer-kick function to support POS applications.

The printer features an integrated dedicated auto-cutter motor to provide long, continuous printing and offers operation of 500 000 cuts. The USB interface board supports paper near end, platen release and head temperature detection. It has a compact 108 x 100 x 94 mm (H x W x D) form-factor that includes a miniature interface board.
