A new line of 'all-purpose' reed relays designed for PCB mounting, introduced by Meder, is ideal for the test and measurement, medical and telecoms markets.
The Meder BE-Series reed relays feature switching voltages up to 1 kV d.c. Designed to be PCB-mounted, these relays take up only 33 x 10 mm of board area, with a distance between coil and contact pins of 25 mm. It features a 6 V coil option, an insulation resistance up to 1014 Ω, and is offered in both metal and plastic casings. An Ex approved version, latching versions, mercury-wetted switches, and normally-closed options are also available.
The BE Series is constructed using high quality materials giving a high dielectric constant between coil and contact. This allows for a minimum breakdown voltage of up to 6 kV d.c. to be specified. To achieve the high voltage characteristics, Meder enhanced the voltage stand off by means of a vacuum within the switch.
