Compact, modular soldering machine has quick programming
20 September 2006Manufacturing / Production Technology, Hardware & Services
Circuit manufacturers who need an in-line capable selective soldering machine, that is quick to set up and well suited to a high product mix environment will find Vitronics Soltec's compact, modular mySelective 6745 a perfect solution. Ideal for medium volume, high-mix assembly, the manufacturer claims that the mySelective 6745 makes setup incredibly fast and simple using a revolutionary new program, Easyteach, developed exclusively by Vitronics Soltec.
Using a simple graphic image of the assembly - a JPEG or flat scan - an operator can set up the soldering sequence for any assembly in a matter of minutes with a few mouse clicks. mySelective 6745 also features precision flexible robotics, and optimised product handling. Its compact footprint optimises limited factory floor space, yet this is a system that can be added onto, to create additional capability as needs increase. Additional preheat modules and fluxing units can be added as volumes increase or process requirements change. The unit incorporates an IR preheating module, dropjet fluxer, and SelectWave nozzle. Its design incorporates a flexible robot arm that is precisely controllable and allows soldering under an angle over its SelectWave, for better soldering in difficult-to-reach areas. The system is highly controllable, providing maximum flexibility and the capability of swapping process steps.
The mySelective 6745 features a specialised lifting unit and SecureGrip PCB Gripper system that delivers added functionality. Its SecureGrip system can be extended with specific functions, including warpage prevention; holding functions for non-planar PCBs; or holding critical components in position. It provides free movement to revolve around its U-axis, easy swap-out through quick-disconnects, and is fully adjustable in both length and width.
The machine eliminates the need for custom pallets and also reduces waste and dross problems.
