Comtest, sole distributor of Fluke Industrial and Electrical test tools and Fluke Precision Measurement in southern Africa, has launched the Fluke 1623 and 1625 - benchmark earth ground testers that can perform all of the four types of earth ground measurement:
* Fall of potential, earth resistance testing (3 and 4 pole measurement).
* 4 pole soil resistivity testing.
* Selective earth resistance measurement using one clamp.
* Stakeless earth loop resistance testing using two clamps.
Specifically, the Fluke 1623 and 1625 testers are able to measure earth ground loop resistances using only clamps, called 'stakeless testing.' This method does not require the use of earth ground stakes or the disconnection of ground rods. They are IP56-rated for outdoor use and are housed in a rugged carrying case. The tester also prompts the user on which stakes or clamps need to be connected.
Advanced features of the 1625 include:
* Automatic frequency control (AFC) - identifies interference and chooses a suitable measuring frequency to minimise its effect, providing more reliable earth ground values.
* R* measurement - calculates earth ground impedance at 55 Hz to more accurately reflect the earth ground impedance that a fault-to-earth ground would see.
