High efficiency TCP/IP networking platform

Imsys' new network processor is designed to deliver a sustained TCP/IP throughput of 25 Mbps over Ethernet while consuming less than 100 mW (running at 200 MHz). The Imsys IM3200 device addresses market demand for high 'performance per watt' computing. According to the company, it combines the best features of traditional CISC architectures, with FPGA-like flexibility. The built-in DSP and Java acceleration is tightly integrated in the rich instruction set and additionally, its efficiency can be finely-tuned using several power saving modes. The device also offers IEEE 1588 time stamping and a crypto-unit, enabling secure communications. The IM3200 can be used for precise clock synchronisation of distributed systems. IEEE 1588 is the preferred time synchronisation method for realtime Ethernet methods such as: CIPSync, EtherCAT, Ethernet Powerlink and Profinet, says Imsys. The device also offers a 25 Mbps master or slave SPI interface and an I²C interface that can act as master or slave in speeds up to 3,4 Mbps. There are three 921 Kbps UARTs, and support for IrDA. Depending on configuration, up to 80 GPIO pins are available.
