NXP's new LPC2478 microcontroller is the industry's only ARM7 Flash-based MCU offering integrated LCD support. There is also a Flashless version, the LPC2470. The new microcontrollers feature two ARM high-speed buses (AHB) for the concurrent operation of multiple high-bandwidth peripherals, including LCD, 10/100 Ethernet, USB host/OTG/device, and two CAN channels. These microcontrollers can support most static LCD displays - up to 1024 x 768 pixels, 15 grey-scale monochromes and up to 24 bits per pixel true colour TFT panels. For embedded system designers, the LCD implementation allows code execution on-chip and minimises bus contention with frame data retrieval from external memory. In addition, the micros provide 512 KB embedded Flash, require only a single 3,3 V supply and offer a unique realtime clock with 2 KB of battery-backed SRAM. Other peripherals include Ethernet, USB host/OTG/device, two CAN channels, four UARTs, three I²C buses, I²S, SPI, SSP, ADC/DAC, SD/MMC card interface, and external interfaces to SRAM, SDRAM and NOR Flash.

The end of ‘entry-level’: STMicroelectronics’ STM32C5 sets a new baseline for embedded systems
DSP, Micros & Memory
[Sponsored] Instead of incrementally improving legacy Cortex-M0+ architectures, STM32C5 introduces a Cortex-M33-based platform into the entry-level category. This changes not only performance expectations, but also how engineers approach system architecture, consolidation, and long-term scalability.
