Dispensing systems simplify production

MLT Application Systems is the southern African distributor of EFD dispensing systems and components.

EFD has been designing and manufacturing precision dispensing devices for applying controlled amounts of the adhesives, sealants, lubricants and other assembly fluids since 1963. They are used in almost every manufacturing process throughout the world.

EFD dispensers improve productivity and process control in fibre-optic assembly operations where precise, consistent application of adhesives, epoxies and similar assembly fluids is critical. Typical applications include: bonding fibres to ferrules; sealing couplers; securing connector components. EFD says that its dispensers make it simple to produce accurate, repeatable deposits as small as 0,2 mm in diameter.

Adhesive is dispensed from a disposable barrel that is equipped with a precision tip and connected to the compact dispensing console by a lightweight, flexible tubing. To apply a preset amount, the user simply holds the barrel like a pen, places the tip in position and presses an electric foot pedal to initiate the dispense cycle.

Various dispensers are available, including those with digital display of dispense time, air pressure and barrel vacuum (used to keep fluid from dripping). Barrels and tips are available in different sizes and styles to meet a wide variety of application requirements.
