Hot air reflow system helps reduce variability, rework and scrap

Nordson and its subsidiary EFD, apply adhesives, sealants and other assembly fluids to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations, helping customers to meet quality and productivity targets.
EFD's new ProcessMate 6100 is a digital bench-top reflow system that accurately controls air temperature within the tight tolerances required for controlled solder paste reflow. When used with EFD SolderPlus dispensing solder paste, the ProcessMate 6100 reduces operator variability, rework and scrap, while increasing productivity and production yields without special training requirements typical of wire-and-iron soldering.
The company's Solder Paste Group provides a total soldering solution starting with quality solder paste formulations coupled with EFD's precision dispensing components and equipment. With the addition of its new hot air reflow system it says it can satisfy customers' needs to produce good solder joints consistently. Multiple nozzle sizes are included for precise focus of hot air for localised reflow from 100 to 480°C adjustable in 1°C increments allowing for reflow without overheating components.
EFD says the ProcessMate 6100 is easy to set up and operators are able to visually observe solder being reflowed to prevent common soldering defects.
