Microcontrollers step in to replace Intel's 186/188 family

4 April 2007 Programmable Logic

Innovasic Semiconductor has announced that it will provide replacements for Intel's 186/188 family of microcontroller products that are being discontinued. All the chips will be available in current conventional and RoHS compliant packaging. According to the company, the devices will be 100% form, fit and function compatible with the original, which is still in high demand. The IA186EB and IA188EB will be the first samples in the family, available in Q4, 2007. Innovasic Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company that solves obsolescence problems by developing microcontrollers and peripheral ICs that are totally compatible with an original manufacturer's part in response to an End of Life notice.
