Advantech designed its PPC-154T panel PC to meet the increasing demands from system integrators for more processing power and flexible integration options. The PPC-154T is an Intel Pentium 4-based panel PC with 15" colour TFT LCD with resolution up to 1024 x 768 pixels. It can be applied in factory automation systems as well as information and interactive kiosks. It runs the latest software - Windows 98/2000/NT/XP as well as Linux 9.0. Graphics-intensive interfaces, video, speech, encryption and image processing are all suitable tasks where the power of the PPC-154T can make a difference, according to the company.
The PPC-154T supports speeds up to 3,06 GHz. The Intel Pentium 4 also supports hyper-threading, which enables the processor to appear as two logical processors to the OS and software applications. This means that it can execute instruction threads in parallel, so the processor can complete more tasks in a given amount of time. Combined with memory up to 2 GB (DDR DRAM), and an Intel 845GV chipset, the PPC-154T has ample power for demanding applications.
I/O options include four fast USB 2.0 ports with transmission rates up to 480 Mbps, two IEEE 1394, two serial ports, audio port, two COM ports, parallel port, TV Out, PS2 for keyboard and mouse, one PCI, one VGA and a RJ45 LAN port with 10/100Base-T Ethernet controller (optional Gigabit Ethernet).
PPC-154T comes standard with CD-ROM (replacable by CDRW or Combo drive), floppy drive, and PCMCIA for Type I and II. The optional card reader gives the PPC-154T the ability to support six different types of flash cards. This includes Memory Stick, SmartMedia, MultiMediaCard, CompactFlash type I, II, Secure Digital (SD), and Microdrive. The compatibility with all these storage solutions ensure a scalable and flexible solution for changing project scopes and the increasing demands for storage in multimedia applications.
